New Addition
Hello there. If you don't know who I am and haven't read any of my other blogs before, my name is Jordyn Berg. I'm currently a junior in college majoring in English Creative Writing. I have always loved to read and write so starting a blog was a logical option to express myself. I started my first blog, Jordyn's Journeys the summer before my senior year of high school. It was for my senior project and it was a place for me to post pictures of my travels. Then I started my second blog Bergy Berg right before I started my sophomore year of college and that's when I really discovered how much I loved writing online. I was writing about things in pop culture and my life and people seemed receptive to it. That blog currently has over 18,000 views which is a big deal for me. This quarter of school, I have been taking three English classes where I've been writing creative fiction and non-fiction everyday and I feel like I have truly grown as a writer. My voice is more established and I'm really proud of some of the work I've created. That being said, I decided that I would start my third blog dedicated to my creative writings, some from my classes, others not. This is a big step for me seeing as how sharing my personal work with people used to make the butterflies in my stomach absolutely explode. I felt like people would quickly judge my work and tell me that I was terrible at what I loved doing. This quarter, through many workshops and conferences, I have learned that I need to be able to distance myself enough from each piece I do and to just take a risk, put my work out there. I'm not going to be able to continue to grow as a writer if I hold myself back. Phew, now that I got my whole rambling out, I can tell you what to expect from Coffeeshop Thoughts. I'll be posting short stories, poems, plays, types of essays, and reflections on this blog and I hope that people can find at least one they relate to or enjoy. So here we go, here's the new addition to my blogging life. Enjoy!
